Refund for transfer fee

I was charged a fee for what was originally a transfer of funds.  This transfer happens every month with no fee, but this month it was listed as a sale and as a result, I was charged $26.16. I contacted PP support and they denied a refund due. This is obviously a glitch in the PP system and I have to pay the price.

Its down to how the payment was SENT to your account.

1. If they sent using money > goods / services option then paypal would see you as a seller and would charge you a fee.

2. If they had sent using the send money > family / friends option then you would have had the payment instantly with no fee.

Same thing happened to me -- I too believe it's a glitch in their system (or maybe they were testing some new screens).

I am still messaging them  -- PayPal is NOT providing purchase protection for the transaction and should refund the fees.

Previously, a problem in payment type (Friends vs Goods) like this would cost the user 30 cents. Now PayPal is keeping 2.8% of the transaction, which is NOT acceptable.

What else can we do?  I am already switching away to use Venmo or Zelle --- but I still need my fees back.
