Phone purchased on offerup/craigslist

If I purchase a phone on offerup/craigslist , pick it up in person but pay the seller via paypal and say - after few days I found phone is defective or is blocked by carrier ( like at&t or t mobile) , then in such case can I dispute transaction to paypal ? Will I be able to get my money back from paypal ? If yes, how long is the duration of this paypal provided warranty ( like 90 days ? 120 days ? )  ?

Any input is appreciated. Thanks.

Thanks. I spoke to PayPal specialist over phone and as far as I purchase(or transfer money) with 'goods' option(and Not friends and family), I'm covered under 180 days of protection policy.

Go and read up on paypals buyer protection policy in their user agreement and then you can risk assess your own transactions.

Which is EXACTLY the reason that I told you to READ UP on buyer protection as the agent could not possibly know all the details of the transaction.

If you pay via goods / services then yes you have 180 days to file a claim but that DOES NOT mean that you have buyer protection as there is a lot of requirements from YOU to get that protection.

For instance YOU WOULD HAVE ZERO BUYER PROTECTION FOR AN ITEM THAT IS COLLECTED OR PERSONALLY DELIVERED.

So instead of just phoning an agent with an 'overview' of buyer protection why don't you read up on it, if it just relied on 'yes your covered for 180 days' then it would not take half a page to write the policy out on PLUS THE EXCLUSIONS.

So your welcome....
