You pay Ebay a fee to advertise and sell your item, that fee is invoiced on a monthly basis.

You pay Paypal a fee to receive instant payments from your buyer (including from credit cards). That fee is deducted from you buyers payment before the rest if credited to your Paypal balance.

FEES are listed in both Ebay and Paypals user agreement / help pages.

So why is the fee so high? Is it not better to receive payments into bank account instead of Paypal?

You can use whatever payment method that you want to, but unfortunately buyers tend to want to pay with Paypal for buyer protection.

Personally I would never send a bank transfer to a seller as if they didn't send I couldn't do anything about it.

Paypals fees are certainly a lot better than normal auction houses but to be honest if you think they are too high then you can sell anywhere else that you want to and accept payment how you want to, Paypal is not compulsory.
