Due to the nature of OfferUp, they recommend that its is best to avoid App-based payment methods such as PayPal, Venmo, Google Wallet and payment will be charged and held from your debit/credit card. However, if you are totally set on using PayPal, ask the seller for their email address to send a goods and services payment, not friends and family gift payment, in order to get seller protection. And depending on what is being sold, it may not be covered. I suggest you read the buyer protection policy at PayPal to determine if it is REALLY the best option for you.

If the seller is asking for your PayPal email address AND your full name, it could very much be a scam. Pay attention to the emails you receive from the seller as they may say they have paid when they have not (when you check your account).
