Do PayPal make a charge for every transactions on eBay? If not why is my sale price plus postage total different when added to my balance

Ebay and Paypal are 2 separate companies.

You pay Ebay to advertise and sell your item, Ebay invoice you on a monthly basis any listing / final value fees.

You pay Paypal to receive instant online payments from buyers (including from credit cards), Paypals fee is deducted from your buyers payment before the remainder is credited to your Paypal account balance.
