Am I getting scammed? I called the PayPal number online and they had me buy 300 worth of cards at different times and now they want me to buy 300 of google play to credit me 800? Is this normal?

Did you not read this thread, its a SCAM.

Its a SCAM.
It would not be paypal customer services that you called it would be a FAKE number pretending to be paypal customer services.
The number shows up when you use 'google' to find paypals number OR a scammer has posted a thread in this forum.
Most times these threads get reported and removed but some slip through.
The scammers post genuine advice but the phone number is in the title or post often in a strange format to get around paypals security.
They also often put loads of 'tags' on the side to push down any warning posts below.
That is why paypal NEVER post their phone number on this forum.
The only way to get the REAL paypal customer services number is via help / contact bottom left of paypal pages and scrolling down past the FAQ to the 'call us' option to phone them.
If you think about it why would paypal ask you to buy google vouchers or itunes cards to answer your question?

I suspect you responded to a spoof email and spoof paypal numbers.

Paypals REAL number is accessed via help / contact bottom of paypal pages > scroll down past any FAQ and use the call us option.

I got the number directly from PayPal and no emails were involved. They are saying it’s their new policy. The numbers are directly off the site?

Sorry but that is rubbish, paypal would not tell you to do that.

How did you get that number, was it google cause you didn't get it by clicking on help/contact on their help pages or in your paypal account did you?

I’m at my wits end, I called the direct number to PayPal. They said they are tired of hearing from me that’s the policy. I’m 100% certain the number is the number that is PayPal’s number. I don’t know what to do they owe me 500 bucks

Please, did you figure it out?? This happened to me this morning. They WERE paypal. They took money out of and put money into the bank account I had attached to my account. They also locked my daughter out of her account. Promising after 3 hours of running around, feeling like I was laundering money, they promised to call tomorrow to reset her password and refund the money they took and the Google cards. It felt wrong!!! I never got straight answers and it was frustrating. Please tell me it all worked out!! Thanks
