PAYPAL KEPT FEE ON EBAY REFUND *LISTEN TO THIS*

wait till you hear this, short and to the point

i made a sale through ebay, buyer claimed item not as described and said he was going to send it back (which he waited 8 weeks to do so for whatever reason and only sent it after the day i escalated the claim to ebay), so ebay refunds the money to the guy (i never received the item back yet, they claimed a delivery attempt was made which i never even knew about, i'm sorting this out with the post office ATM)

i got paid $289.95 ( minus $8.71 paypal fee ) = $281.24 , my paypal balance was 0 plus the funds they put on hold (at the time they put the funds on hold i had more then enough money)

ebay refunds the buyer, they charge me the full $289.95 out of my debit card, then release the hold of $281.24, meaning i paid back the $8.71 fee paypal deducted

now i've spent 2 days talking to these people and explaining to them, and apparently they dont understand basic mathematics

so what the ... ? am i living in the twilight zone ?

they didn't even bother deducting the funds they had on hold minus the difference from my debit card, they just laid it on me, (off course why not, we don't want to deduct anything from the paypal balance, that makes sense... not), my system was setup paypal balance first, remainder paid by debit

i am at a loss for words, PLEASE EXPLAIN TO ME HOW YOU JUSTIFY KEEPING THE PAYPAL FEE ON A REFUND?

no judge in there right mind would disagree with what i'm saying, let alone any customer who uses paypal, i recommend some supervisor take a look at this because clearly a mistake has been made...

look at the explanations i'm getting from paypal

first response

Thank you for taking the time to contact us with your concerns. I am happy to assist you further.

Please be informed that there is no amount was deducted from your PayPal balance because the refund of $289.95 USD is came from eBay not from your PayPal balance or not from your own pocket. The $281.24 (fees included) was returned back to your PayPal balance

Hi! I hope you're doing well, my name is Ryan from PayPal Customer Support. Thank you for getting back to us.

I understand that this is important for you. Please allow me to clarify the situation, PayPal nor eBay haven't charge your balance or even your card to process the refund. Since eBay placed the funds under temporary hold due to the previous disputes, the funds hasn’t reach your PayPal balance yet and when eBay close the case under your buyer favor, the actual payment was reversed.

UNQUOTE

is this a joke? WOOOOOOOW

what the hell are they talking about? i'm sitting here giving NUMBERS, where exactly are you people looking... hahaha

i don't believe this, the only reason i'm persistent about this, is because if you let them get away with this, they'll continue to do so

i encourage anybody in here to weigh in on this situation, these people are LIARS

RESPONSE

Thank you for getting back to us.

The payment you received from BLANK BLANK for $289.95 USD was sent as a payment for goods and services thus there is a fee deducted for $8.71 USD (2.9% + $0.30 USD)

The payment was placed on hold on April 22nd as your buyer file a dispute through eBay. Since the dispute was resolved on your buyers favor, eBay refunded $289.95 USD to the buyer and we refunded  $281.24 USD to your PayPal account on June 11th as the funds was deducted to your account balnce twice

When you issue a full refund using the Issue Refund link, we credit your full variable transaction fee (1.9% to 3.9% of the transaction amount) while the fixed portion of the fee ($0.30 USD per transaction) is not refundable

WHAT THE .... ARE THEY TALKING ABOUT? so wheres my $8.41 cents then, they charged my debit card $289.95, $281.24 was placed on hold in my paypal balance, so 0.30 they keep and the $8.41 they keep also?

i love this part

"as the funds was deducted to your account balnce twice"

i love how they know the extortion there doing, and they give me this mockery of answer

so for any person in the near future who is just encountered what i have encountered, the result to the story was that i ended up getting robbed by a corporate organization, that would be retracting every word they said to me through a CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT

i apparently can be extorted by paypal for no reason what so ever, with proof in my hand being dismissed, and now you know the outcome of this, incase your reading it in the future

i am not economically viable

Hello,

Did you appeal the case successfully in the end?

I have encountered the same situation and have lost 20 pounds transaction fees. I tried to argue with the "specialist" customer server. The lady seemed to have difficulty to understand the basic math.  And she was rude. I am very disappointed how paypal handled such a simple matter.

----------------------------

It sounds like if you have found the transaction and issue refund from there, then you will refund ($289.95-8.71) =  281.24 and Paypal will refund its share less 30 cents= 8.41.

but it is an Ebay dispute and Ebay did the refund.Paypal is not involved in the dispute so it keeps its fee.

There are 2 middleman involved in your deal,Ebay which provide a venue for your sale ,it earns a FVF,since buyer has returned the item,Ebay is refunding the FVF .

The second middleman is Paypal,it collects the money from the buyer and passed it to you,it earns a fee as well.PAYPAL is saying it has done its job,it gets to keep its fee?

???? does it make sense to you?

try talking to eBay .

what it boils down to is-

if you issue the refund from the PAYPAL transaction,PAYPAL will refund its share.

According to refund policy, Paypal should refund the seller majority of the transaction fees.

This is copied from the paypal website

"Will I get my transaction fee back?

If you refund a payment, we’ll retain the fixed portion of the fee you were charged when you received the payment. We’re not charging a fee for the refund, but simply retaining the fee, which has already been collected from your PayPal account.

Example:A buyer sends £100 to a seller
Assuming the seller is on the standard fee rate (3.4% plus 20p), the seller receives £96.40 into their PayPal account
The seller later decides to issue a full refund to the buyer
During the refund, PayPal credits the merchant £3.40
The buyer receives a full refund of £100"

if it is a credit card transaction,PAYPAL pays a transaction fee to its processor ,which is less than 20 p.

that fee is not reversible,in fact there is another fee involved as a refund Is a credit transaction and transaction fee applies.

what you quote is correct if he refund from Paypal-

go to h is account, find that transaction, and refund from there,he will see how much he is refunding and how much paypal is refunding.

but OP did not do the refund,It was eBAY.
