Linking SSN to Paypal Account

Hi Community Members,
We are a group of students at the University of Michigan, Ross School of Business. We run a student affinity club here which has a membership fee.
Students pay membership fee via campusgroups (student club pages platform) which then flows into our linked PayPal account. The money in that account is used for organising student professional meet-ups and other social events.
Lately, PayPal has been asking us to link a SSN to our account to allow us to pay any bills or do a money transfer. Our problem is this paypal account is not linked to any particular individual account and hence no one (club leadership which changes every year) is comfortable to attach their SSN to this account. Currently all our money is blocked since we can't use the account without providing an SSN number.
Could someone please guide us on what is the best way to approach this issue?

A personal account is supposed to be in x1 persons name and its against paypal rules to use it for others as well.
If you are not going to add an SSN as paypal requests then your best bet is to close it down.
Advice is voluntary.
Kudos / Solution appreciated.
