I have a very large family who has a large reunion every year, and the family members pay dues to provide the year's organizer with the funds to provide for locations and food. A family bank account has been set up for those funds but people are often still paying their dues with cash or check. We're considering setting up a PayPal merchant account to take online payments and payment by card at the reunion itself, but we've gotten some pushback from family members regarding the fees. Granted, many of them don't understand that those fees are everywhere almost every time you use your card, but it occurs to me that we're not a business per se so the business fee structure may not be the best. Are there types of merchant products that might be more appropriate for our situation?
