First time buyer basic question.

I am a first time user of both Ebay and PayPal. I am going to buy an item on Ebay Uk for £1,200 and pay via PayPal. The item is coming from Italy so there will be currency conversion to Euro somewhere along the line.

Are there any particular options or different ways of doing this? Anything I should be aware of? Presumably I simply link to my bank debit card? Thank you.

You are correct, you simply link your bank card to your account and the payment will be charged to the card.

Its very straightforward.
