Fee for personal transfer?

I recently sent a friend some money. I sent it from my bank account. My bank account is showing an additional $1.00 withdrawal to paypal. I thought transfers to friends/family were free??

Are you sure you paid with bank account as some folks use that term interchangeably for other funding source types on the forums. If you paid with a bank debit card, you will be charged a fee. So you'd have to be sure you paid with bank account or PayPal balance within the US in order for the payment to be free.

If fee shouldn't apply, contact customer service to have it credited:

Call early, during business hours, west coast time to try to get a US rep.
