Email Scam

I had a customer on FB marketplace buy a laptop from me and asked me to request the payment from his Paypal. So I have his Paypal ID. He said he was going to pay through "Paypal goods and services" and that I would get an email that shows his payment as pending until I send the tracking label for the package. So I did, and the money never showed up. This first email was very very much like one from Paypal. The address was a service@paypal address and had information at the bottom about resources to identify phishing and even said "Paypal is committed to protecting you from fraudulent emails, emails from Paypal will always use your first and last name" And this email had my personal email address and first and last name. The "confirmation email" I received was riddled with broken English and this was after the package had already been shipped. I've set up an intercept for the package but this was a felony fraudulent offense. Because I have the person's Paypal ID (or whoever he stole it from) can Paypal investigate this further? Maybe freeze the account or help us get more information so be can press charges?

Of course he had your email address and full name, he got it from the money request you sent him and thats why he asked you to send one.

SCAM.

They encourage you to accept a 'direct' Paypal payment and may ask you to send the item internationally.
No funds or activity of the transaction shows in your Paypal account and any emails 'may' go into your junk/spam folders.

You will get/got a "fake" email that looks as though it is from paypal.....it isn't because they don't actually have a Paypal account and have no intention of paying you.
It will say the buyer has paid ...you won't have been paid.
They will tell you that the payment is released when you provide paypal with a tracking/shipping number......this won't happen.

Paypal NEVER tell you to send an item before the payment is showing in your paypal account.
Paypal do not tell you to send trackable, they advise it for selling protection but it is not compulsory.
Delete any emails and ignore the scammers.

Kudos / Solution appreciated.
