Hello I’m after some advice for a grandparent. My grandfather has been scammed out of £6,000 after buying something on eBay via PayPal. He paid the money into the bank to a paypal “holding account” do these even exist? He’s been back to the bank to try get the money back but they are saying there is nothing they can do. Any advice will be greatly appreciated. Thanks Joe
You pay via Ebay checkout when you buy something on Ebay.
Sounds as if he was scammed by fake Ebay or Paypal emails and sent the funds directly by bank transfer?
Does the transaction show at all in his paypal account? If not then sadly if it was a direct bank transfer then he was handing a scammer a gift of money 😟
