Cost of Paypal processing payment from buyer to seller on eBay

Just maybe a question that I am confused on. I sell on eBay. Does Paypal charge the 2.9% + 30cents on the final cost of item sold OR the cost of the item sold PLUs the shipping> I should have asked this a long time ago.

Paypal charges you on the total amount of the payment the buyer sends you.

Paypal have no idea how that payment is made up ie shipping or item costs as they are a completely separate company to Ebay.

You pay them to process the full amount the buyer pays you.
