Considering purchasing from a, not really shady, but a very very new looking website...

Is there any sort of preemptive actions I can take that would ensure, if my package were not to show up, that I wouldn't have to spend 2 weeks going through fraud measures?

Is there really no means of holding off a payment until the package arrives? I hate the idea, even if I get refunded, that they would still get the money for the swindling.

I guess I'm asking if there is a safe way to go about "trying" a website that may be new, without getting the shaft. Like I said in the title, the website looks decent enough, and the prices aren't "too good to be true" there's just little things like no reviews that leave me concerned.

I was going to suggest PayPal's Pay after delivery, but unfortunately unavailable to users in the US after April 18, 2018.

The next best payment option is most likely your credit card, which should give you adequate protection - use these links to see what protection your credit card provider has to offer: https://www.usa.gov/credit-cards

From: http://www.allenavenueshop.com/Terms-and-Conditions_ep_2-1.html

"Credit Cards
We accept credit cards as a form of payment. There is no surcharge for using your credit card to make purchases. Please be sure to provide your exact billing address and telephone number (i.e. the address and phone number your credit card bank has on)"

They have a physical address & phone number, which is a good sign, but their address seems to be a private residence (follow the Get Directions link there): https://www.allenavenueshop.com/crm.asp?action=contactus

Will a phone number reverse lookup help?

Their website domain info leads to an address in Florida (unsure if significant or not): https://whois.icann.org/en/lookup?name=allenavenueshop.com

If you're still unsure, or don't want the hassle of making a claim if anything goes wrong, then best to avoid them altogether.

Yeah the more I look into it, the more I don't trust it.

I actually called the number and they didn't say the company name as a greeting. It was just a grumpy sounding guy.

Also it says free shipping on the item I want, but in the cart it charges shipping.

Also their blog post is from 2014.

So yeah. As much as I hate missing out on the deal they are presenting (not a steal, just an item at MSRP that stays hiked nowadays) I just can't bring myself to purchase from there. I just have this vision of Paypal coming up with sooooome kind of bizarre reason they can't refund my $800 dollars.

What did you end up doing? I'm in the same boat and just quite can't get myself to pull the trigger - even though it would save me $200.
