Charged for selling on Ebay by Paypal for each item. Why??

Why would i be charged a fee for each sale when selling items on Ebay? Im a private seller and dont sell items as i business. Was never charged when sold items on Ebay before, with payments received through Paypal. Thanks.

Ebay and Paypal are 2 separate companies.

You pay Ebay to list and sell your items..............the fees for that are invoiced to you on a monthly basis.

You pay Paypal to receive instant online payments including from credit cards.................that fee is deducted from the buyers payment before the remainder is credited to your Paypal account balance.

That has always been the case in the 15 years I have been selling on Ebay.

If they did not charge how would Paypal pay their staffs wages at the end of the month or make any profit to run the service??
