Buyer requests addition of apartment number

Buyer requests apartment number added onto address in private messaging. He has zero eBay purchase history. Is this a scam? The address is identical to PayPal with exception of apt number. If I manually add apt number, do I lose buyer protection?

Welcome to the community and thanks for posting.

I can't say if it was a scam or not but what I am certain about is that... If you sent an item to a different address (whether or not it was requested by your buyer) and if they open a dispute against you for an "Item not received" there's a big chance that you will lose the case.

I suggest, if a delivery address has to be amended, please have an agreement with your buyer to cancel the order to place a new one, along with the most accurate shipping address.
