I’m in the UK. If I send a payment in Euros to a private seller in Germany am I covered if the item doesn’t turn up. It’s not through eBay & is of reasonable high value. Thanks.

You would be covered by Paypal buyer protection as long as you paid via the goods / services option OR the seller sent you a money request or invoice.
But paypal buyer protection (just like ebay) is not a 100% coverall so your best bet is to read up on it so you can risk assess your transactions.
eg if the item arrives misdescribed then it may be costly for you to return it etc.
Advice is voluntary.
Kudos / Solution appreciated.

My main concern is if the item never gets sent in the first place. Thank you for the advice.
