Buyer Protection on private purchase

Hi, I’m based in the UK and I am considering using PayPal to send money for a privately arranged (not via a website) purchase of a second hand item from someone in the Czech Republic. What information do I need from the seller and am I covered by Buyer Protection? If not then does anyone have any solutions for a safe and secure purchase, PayPal or otherwise? Thank you!

Get them to send you a money request or invoice fully describing the item that you are buying.

Then go and read up on paypals buyer protection policy in their user agreement so you can risk assess your transaction.
