Bewear of Gumtree Scam

Today I posted an item for sale on Gumtree for my father who has suffered a stroke. Within 2 hours I received 2 text messages enquiring about the item. Both then said sold, however the are unable to view due to being offshore for different reasons. They said they would pay through PayPal and have a courier collect the item at their expense. I asked if we could arrange cash on delivery which again both declined. When I explained I was not comfortable accepting their offer one did not respond and the other became abusive. So the scam is well and truly alive. Please be careful.

Scam has been ongoing for at least 15 years and is all over the internet and this forum, glad you were not caught out.

As long as they continue to get victims they will carry on doing it
