Being charged to send money

I (from fl) sent my daughter (from N.Y.) $500.00 three times and each time she received $485.20..When I sent her $1000.00 she received $970.70...what am I doing wrong? I thought PayPal was free...

Its down to how the payment was SENT to your daughters account.

1. If you sent using money > goods / services option then paypal would see her as a seller and would charge her a fee.

2. If you had sent using the send money > family / friends option then she would have had the payment with no fee.
