Requests for money

I had an account with PayPal years ago which I closed as it had fraudulent activity on it.  Last night I opened a new account and I wake up this morning to a bunch of requests from complete strangers asking me to give them money.  Really???? I thought this was a secure way to send / receive money, not a 'please spam me' platform.  Is there any way to stop requests like this? How do these people even know I have an account?

I'm sorry to hear that you're receiving requests from strangers. You should be able to block these users from sending future requests by logging in to your PayPal account through our website and following the steps below:

1.Click Send & Request.

2. Click Contacts and select the name of the person you want to block.

3. Click Block this contact.

4. Click Block to confirm.
