I believe I received a scam text message.

I’ve completely ignored it and even blocked the number. I signed in. Not using the link obviously. I just want to confirm other users are experiencing the same issues please. Would be helpful. It said, my account have had all access blocked unless I click the link to unblock my account and all outgoing direct debits would be frozen. I’m thinking huh, that’s a little weird. But it almost got me to sign in! The website it brought me too was very convincing. Other than all the buttons didn’t work, like for example the contact us button or policy button, it would work on the REAL paypal website pages. So I’m almost 98% sure it’s a scam. Maybe by saying this I could help others out.

If its a spoof then NEVER USE ANY LINK.

Firstly if the email/text addressed you as ''Dear Member'' / ''Customer'' / ''Client'' OR your ''email address'' then that confirms its a spoof as paypal would address you by your full name eg Dear John Smith.

Secondly if there was a link OR attachment in that email/text to ''cancel'' any transaction or ''confirm'' any details then again it would be a spoof.

If there was a problem with your account Paypal would not ask you to click on an unsafe link in an email or by downloading an attachment, they would direct you to log in normally and go to the resolution or the message centre for more information.
