I was emailed by paypal that my API codes were about to expire so I renewed them. The fingerprint is now a different code. Do I need to do anything to my e-commerce website with this update and change? And if so, where? I can not find a place to put the new "fingerprint" only a "signature" and I don't believe that is the same thing.

You should be able to follow the steps found in this developer documentation to view your signature.
You can either have a Certificate or a Signature for your account. If you need to switch from Certificate to Signature, you can just delete the existing Certificate and generate a Signature.
I hope this helps!

Sorry Aaron, but this doesn't answer the question and in fact only adds to the confusion.
