trouble removing bank account

I am having trouble removing bank account. Have done all the usual things, but keep getting message that there are pending transactions, but there are none. I have added another bank account successfully, and have made the new one my preferred account so it should be simple to remove the old one, but it is not. Telephone help did not help.

Check if you had a subscription set up linked to that paypal account...
Click on the profile tab (icon next to log out) > Click on payments third option along on the thick blue band top of page > "manage pre-approved payments''.
