sent money to my son's old paypal account which he couldn't access!

I sent money to my son as an aid but I mistakenly typed his other email which is registered for an old paypal account rather his current account, which required security check since he didn't use it since 2012 and he forgot the security answers and the phone number no longer exists since he moved to a different country, and now we're stuck!

I couldn't cancel the payment, and he couldn't sign into his old paypal account to resolve the issue, the money is trapped with paypal, what are we supposed to do?

What does it say next to the transaction in your Paypal account?

1. Pending (with a clearance date)
2. Pending/Unclaimed with a cancel option.
3. Pending/Unclaimed withOUT a cancel option.
4. Payment or Sent.

Secondly what country are you both in?

Lastly how did you fund the paypal payment you sent him?
