pending payment

I purchased something through Paypal, i have received the item but was contacted by the company that the payment was not successful, the money was taken from my account but is still showing up as pending. The company told me the money is going to bounce back to me as it failed to reach them. How long should it take to bounce back to me if its still saying its pending but failed to reach them?

What does it say next to the transaction in your Paypal account?

1. Pending / Unclaimed.
2. Pending / Unclaimed with a cancel option.
3. Completed / Sent.
4. Pending / Uncleared.
5. Pending awaiting authorisation.

It only says pending

Then it has not gone through to the seller and should 'time out' at 30 days post payment.
