I have sold 2 items on Facebook and both times the person has paid it via PayPal and it was put on hold. Does this happen everytime?

I am I new seller but why would they do it for a second time. There's no reason behind the holds. Is it really worth the hassle?

They do it until they feel you have done enough sales to have become a 'trusted seller'.

The reason they do it is for buyer protection, when a buyer pays, paypal credit you the funds and paypal take the wait for the funds to transfer from the buyers funding source.

So if you don't send an item and disappear they have to refund that buyer under their buyer protection scheme and then chase you to pay them back BUT if the funds are still on hold in your paypal balance then they can seize them and pay the buyer back easily.
