Payments holds are an industry standard practice and may be placed if you have a new account, there are security concerns, or if there are questions about the payments you are receiving.
There are usually steps you can take to release your funds earlier and to graduate from new seller holds. As a freelancer, you are still considered a seller since you are providing a service.
