Using Paypal to pay on eBay

In the past, I have used PayPal to pay for shipping on eBay.  When I bought postage, it would automatically take from my PayPal amount, and only dip into my checking if the funds were not in my PayPal amount.  But recently, it is using my checking account as the primary source.  I don't think I've changed any settings to cause this.  Anyone else having this issue?

Hello, kylermcalister. Welcome to the PayPal Community! Thanks for taking the time to post your question here.

There could be a couple of possibilities to explain the situation you described where payments for postage is being funded by a bank account instead of your PayPal account balance. The most likely reason is because of recent changes PayPal had to make due to requirements imposed on us by the US government.

At this time, it's not possible for PayPal to allow money in a US customer's balance to be used to pay for purchases or to send money to Friends and Family until steps are completed to confirm their identity and some other information. Please check https://www.paypal.com/us/smarthelp/article/paypal%E2%80%99s-customer-identification-program-cip-faq... for more information on PayPal's Customer Information Program (CIP).

In the mean time, please check your PayPal account for any notifications in the Secure Message Center (click the bell-shaped icon next to the Log Out button) or for requests for information in the Resolution Center (https://www.paypal.com/us/smarthelp/article/what-is-the-resolution-center-faq3327).

I hope this is helpful. Thanks for being a part of the PayPal Community!

Sincerely,

Michael
