I am in Australia, sending money to a person in Australia, why does the value change to USD and send it to the recipient in Australia in USD?

They may be in Australia but do they have a U.S bank account or have they requested payment in USD?
No, they thought it must have been done by me somehow. But I've gone over exactly what I did and can't see anything different.
