Transaction fee

Hey Community, I'm a freelancer and I created PayPal account long time back. But when I tried to get fund from my client as a test run, he sent $1 for which I received $0.60 that's a huge percentage fee near about 40% as I have gone through the T&C it's given 4.4%+ GST on transaction less than $3,000 which is affordable. Please suggest me as the customer service is closed due to pandemic. I don't want to risk, if he sends $100 then I might loose $40 as fee.

Paypal fees are in 2 parts, a % part and a fixed fee part.

2.5%* + Fixed fee (INR 3)

So if you are only receiving a very small amount then the fixed fee part would make that fee much higher.

How to determine? If he sends $100 and the same amount is deducted then there will no way to get back the money. I don't know how the fixed part works.
