So now I need a bank account to use PayPal?

Didn't need one when I set up the account or for the years I've been using it, but now it seems the only way to access the funds I have to to link one.  I thought the point of PayPal was for people who didn't want to do this.

Just annoying that there was no notification telling me in advance and it caused a service to be cancelled due to a transaction not being paid.
