Sending money

I'm in Australia and the person I'm trying to send money to lives in Australia to apparently and when I go to send them money it says USD automatically does this mean this person is not in Australia

Thanks for contacting PayPal community! I understand you are concerned about the currency when trying to make a payment. It could be a reason that the receiver has the account in different country and request you to please check with them.
