So I received 2 payments in an hour from 2 people from Craigslist because I was selling my iPhone. I’m trying to sell my phone to the one who sent me the money first but also trying to refund the money the other person sent back to her. But the money is on hold because they need a tracking number. So neither of us have the money. How can they get their money back so there won’t be any problems?
Have the sender open a PayPal dispute (choose from Item Not Received or Not as Described, but not unauthorized payment or PayPal will deny it since the person did send payment) and issue refund from within dispute and close the case without escalating to have PayPal step in. This is so that PayPal will use the On Hold funds to refund the buyer instead of taking it from your PayPal balance or bank account.
