When a card has been added to PayPal, the verification charge is refunded automatically to the card once the card has been confirmed. There may have also been a temporary authorisation charge applied to the card when it was first added too. This would have been the $1.01 charge.
Both of these charges should be refunded on average between 3 and 5 working days after the card has been confirmed on your account. In some cases, it can take anywhere up to 30 calendar days for the charges to show as being refunded. This depends on how quick your card issuer can process the refunds back to your card.
