Question about gifting money

Hello there!
My Ebay and Paypal is used by various members of my household.
To stop other people using the money (the paypal credit) I've earned, I was thinking of gifting the balance to myself via email adress.

I have two questions:
1) Will I be able to use this like a gift card on Ebay and other places offering paypal? For example, I gift myself £5. I then can use this at the checkout to get £5 off my next order.
2) To they have a expire date?
3) What happens if what I'm buying is less than the credit?

Lets hope paypal don't find out that others have access to your individual personal paypal account Smiley Surprised

And not you can't use paypal credit to give yourself cash advances, you can only use it for paying merchants that accept it.
