Paypal for goods collected on marketplace.

My son sold something on Facebook marketplace and the buyer collected and paid via paypal the figure of £500 shows as pending waiting for the item to be delivered is there a way of getting this money released or is this a scam by the buyer?

The item has no tracking as it was picked up in person.
