Payment made to me but not showing up in my account; can't get any customer support

On November 12 I was sent a payment of $8500 by a person known to me. It has been 8 days and it is still not showing up in my account. I've tried every suggestion in the online help topics and the PayPal customer support line. I can't get through to a live person at Paypal and the message center responses have been boilerplate useless. The money will be returned on Nov. 22 unless I accept the payment - which I've done - but the money isn't in my account. Any advice?
