I have been to First National Bank with a view of opening an account. Their requirements are ridiculous! They need me to maintain my FNB account by depositing a thousand rand every month. That I will not be able to do. I'm opening this account solily to link up with my bank and paypal. Other than that I don't need it and will not be able to afford it.
What do I do in the circumstances?

I think you only need an online profile with FNB, not necessary to have an account with FNB. At least that's what I read in general.
On this page it says: "Open a PayPal account + register for the FNB Online Banking profile and withdraw the money to any South African bank account. Get Paid with PayPal and withdraw with FNB, or you can Top-up your PayPal account using your FNB bank account, and enjoy shopping worldwide."
https://www.fnb.co.za/forex/payments/paypal.html
Kudos & Solved are greatly appreciated. 🙂
