Issues with egift card refund

Hello! I'm wondering if someone in the community can help me. I purchased two e-gift cards on March 31st through PayPal and accidentally sent them to a gmail.ca address which doesn't exist. However the funds were still withdrawn by PayPal. I've had difficulty in trying to get a resolution and refund considering there is no recipient of the cards and PayPal themselves are the seller. I would think this is not too rare a scenario and I'm frustrated there's no help for it. I spent nearly $50 and can't afford to have it become a donation to PayPal. I have yet to make a phone call but thought I would reach out to the active community first. Thank you for reading!

I'm afraid, there is nothing that can be done from within our accounts to reverse this other than contacting customer service:

(Response time will be longer due to reduced staff.)

  1. Log on.
  2. Click HELP at the top menu.
  3. Scroll down and click CONTACT US.
  4. Scroll down to click EMAIL US or other contact options.

Or contact via social media:

Facebook (CA): https://www.facebook.com/PaypalCanada/

Twitter (CA): @AskPayPalCA

Facebook (US): https://www.facebook.com/paypal

Twitter (US): @AskPayPal

Also read this for more info:

Lastly, if you can't get through to anyone at PayPal to fix this, your other recourse is to contact your card issuer to dispute, if that is how you paid. Otherwise, keep trying to reach out to PayPal.

Kudos & Solved are greatly appreciated. 🙂

Thank you very much for your help. I have a couple of other courses of action now so will pursue those. Thanks again.
