Is it better to "accept payment in Canadian Dollars and create a balance in this currency"?

Hi,
I usually receive payments in CAD, convert them to USD and lose a bunch of money. Now, I'm considering accepting CAD, creating a balance in that currency and whenever I need USD, sending the amount needed to my USD balance.
I would like to know what's more convenient or if it's the same. Will I lose the same amount of money if I accept 500 CAD, convert them and receive 400 USD than if I accept and receive 500 CAD and one day converting 50 to USD and 30 another day and so on?
Thank you in advance!
