Adding another currency directly onto your account

I’m trying to add USD to my paypal account to transfer someone, however as my PayPal account is Australian it automatically comes up with Australian dollars. Even after I made USD my primary currency. I use a Citibank card which automatically converts any currency so I’m wondering if I can just add USD dollars instead of adding AUD and converting it at a fee.

Why are you trying to add funds to your balance when you can pay directly from your card?

Just fill in the email addy > select the option to send the funds > select currency from the drop down box and fill in the amount > then before you click to pay it will tell you how much in AUD will be deducted from your funding source to send the USD payment.
