So I can't link my bank account to my paypal because my wife has it linked to her paypal account. Is there a way to transfer money from a debt card to my paypal account or is the only way to transfer to paypal through a bank account?

As you have not added your country to your community profile or said in your post then we can't help (Paypal varies a lot country to country).
