Money pending

Has anybody else ever had somebody send money like they've bought something from you and a hold has been placed on your money but you haven't sold them anything?

Its down to how the payment was SENT to an account. If they used option 1 by mistake then you may have to wait 21 days but try marking the transaction as shipped/processed and see if the sender has a confirm receipt option on their side to release the funds sooner.

1. If sent using money > goods / services option then paypal would see the recipient as a seller and apply the new seller hold. They would also charge a fee.

2. If sent using the send money > family / friends option then the recipient would have the payment instantly (as long as it wasn't an echeque pending with a clearance date) with no fee if funded from a bank account or balance (a fee if you use a card).

Yes the new seller hold was placed on my funds...and they charged me a fee..it's so frustrating

Well sadly thats your friends fault for not using the correct option unfortunately.
