I sent a gift to my son with paypal, how does he receive it and how long does it take?

I sent my son some money thru paypal.  How will he receive it?  Is it by check?  How long does it take?

If he is in the same country then it should show on his paypal account balance instantly UNLESS he selects to have it auto transferred to his bank account.

If its in his balance then he can withdraw it to his bank account or debit card when he wants to.
