I made a purchase at **bleep**'s Sporting Goods and paid with paypal on checkout, just because it was easier.

Well if you pay with cash or credit card you will get cash back or credit cardrefund upon returning the item.

But if you pay with paypal they will only give you store credit!!!  Even though paypal just took the money from my credit card.

I don't need or want store credit.  I just want my money back.

No store has to refund you just because you change your mind.

They only HAVE to do so if the item was misdescribed or damaged.

As this does not appear to have been the case they quite rightly offered you store credit.

Then why do they treat PayPal differently than any other form of payment? I could have used the same credit card PayPal does and got the money back. But if you use PayPal you are stuck with store credit.

Some retailers do not or choose not to have access in-store to their corporate PayPal account so they give store credit instead. Or even cash, according to the link. If you returned the item by mail you would have gotten refund via PayPal.
