unable to access account

I have used Paypal for 30 years.

With no advance warning, Paypal will not allow me

to access my account unless I give Paypal my phone number.

I do not wish to give PayPal my phone number.

PayPal already has plenty of info about me.

Why did Paypal not warn me of this change, in advance so

I could remove my personal information, and end the account?

This is their first sleazy stunt,

and I am concerned that this is the first of more to come.

Security requirements for companies change over the years and a lot of companies require a mobile phone number to be added now.

If you don't want to then you can still close your account if you wish to?

Contact options for Paypal are accessed by clicking help/contact bottom left of Paypal pages.

1. Paypal phones when available (you can use the guest option if you can't log in).
2. Live chat is also randomly available.
3. You can send them a message, during business hours you may also be able to message whilst logged out.
Or
4. Have you considered contacting Customer Service via Facebook or Twitter?
You can send them a personal message from their Facebook or Twitter pages.
It's: https://www.facebook.com/PayPal and @AskPayPal for Twitter.

What "guest option?"  The only option is to give them my cell phone number.

"Live Chat" is so achingly slow, I asked if she could please email the response.

She did not.

I did call.  The attendant hung up in my face because all she did was ask me

highly personal questions.  I answered one, and when she continued, I  told her that I called to get

answers to my problem, not provide personal information.

And she hung up in my face.

I do not feel like conveying my personal information to everyone on Twitter.

I know it said we were going to a "private" place, but why in the hell can't they just let me

into my account to close it?

This is all **bleep** that forces their 30-year customer to risk identity theft.

I've already experienced identity theft.

Have you?

If you had you would understand.

I hope that I don't have to seek legal council go close out my account because

Paypal is playing games.
