trying to close possibly closed account...paypal braindead

I may have closed an account but I can still log in so I'm not sure it is closed. I sent paypal an email specifically stating that "Close Account" does not appear in "Account Options". Of course they emailed me that I need to select "Close Account" in "Account Options". Sigh. Any suggestions on getting actual information? Thanks.

Depending on what interface you're seeing, this is what I see:

* Login to your account.
* Click on the "gear" icon next to Logout.
* You should see a link at the bottom left.
* "Close your Account" - click

And of course what I reported is that the "Close Account" link is not shown for my account. Does this mean it is closed? If so, then why can I log in? Are they trying to keep their stats up? That would be sick.
