i received a text claiming to be fro pp saying we have limited your account due to safety concerns please visit <removed> before we are forced to close your account can anyone shed some light on this for me please

If its a spoof NEVER USE ANY LINK.

Firstly if the email/text addressed you as ''Dear Member'' / ''Customer'' / ''Client'' OR your ''email address'' then that confirms its a spoof as paypal would address you by your full name eg Dear John Smith.

Secondly if there was a link OR attachment in that email/text to ''cancel'' any transaction or ''confirm'' any details then again it would be a spoof.

If there was a problem with your account Paypal would not ask you to click on an unsafe link in an email or by downloading an attachment, they would direct you to log in normally and go to the resolution or the message centre for more information.

I did click and entered username and password.  But when it asked for credit card info and SSN I suspected fraud.  It took me to a page claiming to by PayPal Buyer Protection site.  I immediately went to my account and changed my password since I essentially just shared that with this site which made it look like I logged in.  PayPal does not operate this way.  They would just ask you to log in from official site.  BEWARE!
